RACE DAY INFORMATION – you will receive an email this week with information if you are preregistered.
Here are the basics:
June 6th 4:00-7:00pm REGISTRATION AND BIB PICK UP
June 7th 7:00 am Registration and bib pick up
8:00 am Opening Ceremonies
8:10 am First Wave of Racers Start!!!!
The Southland Credit Union Sugar Beet Festival will kick off Friday night bib pick up, then Saturday morning enjoy the 5k-ish Sugartown Challenge which is not a race against time, but a fun race over a unique course which features a series of challenges (walls, haystacks, and giant slides) and a scenic, informative jaunt through Old Town Los Alamitos.
Local Non-Profits can use the race to raise revenue. The entry fee is $40.00 For each person they get to enter the race, the non-profit will keep $20 of that $40 ticket price. If a non-profit simply sends out an email to their mailing list and get 100 people to sign up they earn $2000 for their non-profit. It’s that simple.
The jaunt will include stations set up by many local businesses and Trend Offset Printing (incidentally, the third largest printing company in the United States) is letting us run through a portion of their facility and run around and over some giant rolls of paper.
Other race partners also also include local fitness-based businesses — Beach Fitness/Crossfit Seal Beach , Champions Quest, Kidnastics, Deft Touch Soccer – who are even now working on fun, ingenious challenges that entertain businesses who will design a little challenge in front of their own areas.
If you’re not one of those who like to run or climb, crawl and get spritzed — then we will have safe lanes so you can just walk the course.
The race starts and finishes right in the heart of the festival at the Shops at Rossmoor (we will transport you to the main race area) so when you’re done you will have lots of beverages, and food stations to quench your thirst and cure your hunger pains.
